![]() ![]() Beware though, the HD600/HD650 are fairly amp intensive headphones. To me the great benefit of the D1 is that it's a great for the price DAC that has an amp built in when you absolutely need it, but mostly I think of it as a DAC.īased on the way you described how you felt about the Grado vs Senn sound, I'd say HD650s would be a great move. It sounds great with my Shure SRH840, which are around 60 ohms, and fairly sensitive. It has a sweetspot with medium impedance, highly sensitive headphones, where it sounds great, but it's not the most versatile amp. The downfall of the D1 is that the amp is underpowered for hard to drive headphones, but its output impedance is too high for most easy to drive headphones. The DAC in the D1 is, IMHO, better than the ODAC, but the O2 is a *much* better amp than the amp in the D1. but curiosity has already kicked in of course. I'm just not into classical, Jazz, techno or "proper" metal.įor the time being I'm quite content with my setup. I don't want to bore you with a never-ending list. I mainly listen to classic or progressive rock, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Jethro Tull, The Police, Peter Gabriel, Red Hot Chili peppers to name a few. ![]() and BANG! it was love! They're so comfy I forget I'm wearing them and the sound is way more likeable and less tiring than the Grados. after trying the cans above I've put a pair of 598's on my head. Honestly I'm not a fan of their sound signature and comfort. I've got to be quiet here and also space is an issue, so with speakers out of the picture I've naturally reverted to headphones, which I had never really considered an option before in my life, if not for listening to music while running.Īfter reading around I've purchased a pair of Sennheiser HD598SE and an Audioengine D1.īefore buying the Senns I've visited a few hi-fi shops and tried quite a few cans from the Grado line (sr80, 125,225, 325) and even thought I sort of had "fallen in love" with the descriptions found online I must say that actually listening and wearing them made me change my mind. I'm an Italian guy, now living in London with my English wife.Īs you can probably guess the days of loud music from my nice speakers at my bachelor's pad in Italy are long gone. I've been lurking for a little while now, so I think it's time to introduce myself to the community. ![]()
